Mounted combat as we are designing for it incorporates far more than jousting alone. A knight astride his destrier had to practice what we today call classical dressage to a high degree, and the horse and rider had to work as one. The natural limitations of full body armour require significant design work to ensure a safe experience while mounted, including designing to ensure that cuisses and saddleflaps work well, and that the rider can manage reins and weapons alike without losing protection.
