MUSA LEATHERWORKING
Inspiration
“Musa” comes from the Latin for Muse, and it is in the spirit of that divine inspiration that I bend to my art, engulfed by the smell of fine leather.
I am inspired by the simple pleasure of watching items come together, and challenging myself to always improve, always make what I build be that much more beautiful.
This is what it means for me to have begun Musa. I wish to inspire, to delight, and to craft exquisite leather items for Sanctuary Armoury’s clients and their families.
I hope you will enjoy my creations as much as I love to build them.

SHOES

FIGHTIN' SHOES
Based on the Type 30 Split Pullstrap shoe,. the euphemistically titled “Fightin’ Shoe” is a medieval turnshoe with a twist. Designed explicitly to work with Sanctuary Armoury’s leg harness, this shoe represents extensive reworks based on feedback and testing over hours of wear and combat. Crafted to reinforce the ankles over long periods of time and to support the heel and front of the foot, these shoes are custom fitted and designed for beauty as well as superior wear.
-
AELFWYN
Inspired by the Type 35 toggle fastening shoe, the “Aelfwyn” named for the first person to have them made for her, feature intricate embroider on the boot sides, and can come lined with ethically sourced fur (trimmed from coats being refurbished at a local furrier). These boots are for delight, showing off, comfort, and warm feet, and I wouldn’t suggest fighting in them!
-
OLIAS
Named for the first person they were made for, the “Olias” shoe is also not really intended for combat. Based on the Type 50 Side Laced shoe, this shoe can be as simple or as intricate as you might desire, incorporating piercework, lacing, complex stitching, and tooled leather.

SWORD SCABBARD
Custom fitted to your weapon, the scabbard includes a woolen liner with ten layers of wood veneer steamed and glued in layers around it, finishing with a rare patterned wood for the final layer. This wooden core for your sword is then clad in pierceworked supple deerhide sourced from the Laurentian mountains in Quebec, and through a First nations-run supplier. Accents in tooled Tuscan veg tan leather and brasswork complete the look, and a belt suitable for your sword is part and parcel of the scabbard.
-
QUIVER
The quiver is based upon a central European adaptation of Asian wooden box quivers which were incorporated and adapted to use more leather as well as wood. Boasting a fur-lined internal cylinder of layered veneer finished with an exotic patterned wood, this quiver won’t shake arrows loose or rattle. Like the scabbard, stretched deerskin with intricate piercework offers visually pleasing contrasts to delight any eye.

RAPIER KIT
Including custom-made moosehide and pullup rapier gloves, this kit also includes a matching rapier frog and belt to thrill any enthusiast of historical fencing. Piercework is optional, and sure to evoke plenty of comments.
